Kylie McInnes & Rachael Baggally – Female MTB Team

Both ladies love their bikes. Their goal is to keep competing in mountain bike enduros, keep improving, and keep having fun. And while they are at it, they’d like to encourage more girls to get out there and give it a go too.

Kylie says ‘I ride because I enjoy it. Riding to work makes me feel good, and riding home makes me feel even better. But mountain biking is the riding I like best. Apart from being ridiculously good fun, riding off road presents different challenges  – both mental and physical – to work at. I’ve had the opportunity to see different parts of the Australian and NZ bush and enjoy it under my own steam, with the wind at my back and the sun (or mud!) on my legs.
Over the years, I’ve done quite a few mountain bike races – mostly with my regular race partner Rachael Baggallay, but also in a team of 4 with some other girls. And although we do get a bit competitive (there’s nothing quite like finding out at 1am in a 24 hour race that you’ve just caught up to the team in front!), we pride ourselves on our good sportsmanship and having fun. I love the sense of camaraderie you get in mountain bike races – the way first-time racers and elites can ride together on the same course, and at the end everyone is equally muddy-faced and grinning :-)’.
